Giving New Life to Oak Paneling and Kitchen

Challenge: Nearing retirement, it was important to the clients that we prioritize the renovation investments not only to consider their desires but to also be cognizant of a future sale of the home.  

Approach: Design priority was placed on the main floor of this well loved family home. The centrally located kitchen was truly the heart of all family gatherings and entertaining. It’s closed in layout begged for new vision. Golden oak paneling cladded large areas of the home, but removal of the extensive amounts of oak didn’t make financial sense for this renovation. The kitchen was opened up to the dining room, shedding new light into a new plan with a large island. Paint became the key to breathing new life into the expansive oak features of the home. Luxury vinyl plank flooring (LVP) was selected for its durability, yet rich appeal and cost effectiveness. Soft wall colours and trim allow for focal points like lighting and tile to shine.

Result: Smart investing resulted in a wonderful family space that is classically sophisticated with plenty of pop for future buyers.
